Sixth Annual Lincoln Square Garden Walk
More than 20 gardens and 15 environmental groups plan to participate in this ecologically-minded neighborhood’s event. Butterfly gardens, children’s play areas, waterfalls, decks, patios, terraces, composting and abundant decorative vegetable gardens make the Lincoln Square Garden Walk a showcase for the resourcefulness of gardeners working in small city lots.Last year’s walk featured the variety the walk is known for with some wonderful new additions. One new Mayor’s landscape award winner features mature perennials and small trees, one garden features banks of showy lilies. Another garden uses individual beds, organized in a hardscape, like a patchwork. There were native plant gardens, a community vegetable garden with sustainable farming of small fruits, a whimsical Victorian idyll, the sky-high terrace of the Dank Haus and a expansive shade that makes use of vertical space. This year features many new gardens and delightful, innovative surprises. The Lincoln Square Garden Walk and Green Fair will be held all day on Saturday July 31st, from 10-5:30pm at Giddings Plaza at 4731 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago. There is no charge for the Green Fair. The Garden Walk is $10 and all profits go to benefit the Lincoln Square Foundation, the Chamber’s not-for-profit greening organization.Sixth Annual Lincoln Square Garden Wa...Date and Time
